The public to get closer look at Simsbury River Oaks

SIMSBURY, February 15, 2007 – Simsbury residents this week will be getting a closer look at the design of and facts about Simsbury River Oaks, the mixed-use development proposed for Route 10 adjacent to the Avon town line. They will be getting an updated, multi-page brochure in the mail, complete with eye-level renderings of various views in the neighborhood. In addition, a video about Simsbury River Oaks will be aired on Simsbury Community Television (SCTV), beginning Monday, February 19.

“Our team of nationally-recognized planners, architects, landscape architects, and traffic engineers has spent many months designing Simsbury River Oaks as a mixed-use neighborhood that will enhance the quality of life and tax revenues of Simsbury,” said Stan Glantz, senior vice president and project manager for Konover Development Corporation of Farmington, which is proposing the multi-use project.

“We have sent out this information, so that all of the Simsbury stakeholders will be better able to participate in this process as we proceed to a full and open discussion of Simsbury River Oaks before the Simsbury land-use commissions,” Glantz said.

The 20-page brochure was mailed to all Simsbury residents and businesses yesterday and should reach peoples’ addresses today, tomorrow and Saturday.

SCTV, meanwhile, will air the almost 30-minute video:

  • On Channel 21, the Government Channel, at noon and 7 p.m. on Mondays, beginning February 19; then again at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays; and
  • On Channel 5, the Local Access Channel, at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays.

The SCTV schedule has not yet been set for March, but Simsbury residents can find it at http://www.simsburytv.org/SCTV.html.
