Route 10 is a busy and important artery for Simsbury and the region. Improvements have been designed to maintain or improve all levels of service for Simsbury residents.
The engineering firm of Fuss & O’Neill in Manchester has designed a solution: First, there will be multiple entrances and exits distributing the traffic flow. Second, a system of medians and a double, connected roundabout will calm traffic, while increasing safety. This solution will also enable Route 10 to remain one lane north and one lane south.
The roadway design, including the adjacent berming and parking at the northern end of the site will be similar in appearance and operation to Iron Horse Boulevard in Simsbury. Residents of Blue Ridge will merely merge into the roundabout to go either north or south on Route 10. In all likelihood, access to and from Route 10 will be improved as well as safer.
