A founding partner of the New Haven-based landscape architecture firm of Towers/Golde, Shavaun Towers uses her extraordinary sensitivity to the character and opportunities of each specific site, her deep understanding of architectural aesthetic and historical style, and her dedication to social purpose to frame her analysis of each design challenge and inspire her vision for its unique resolution.
Ms. Towers earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in architecture from Smith College in 1971, and a master of landscape architecture degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1973. She has subsequently taught at the Yale School of Architecture, Harvard Graduate School of Design, and at the Universities of Connecticut, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts and Georgia.
She is currently a member of the Guilford, Conn., Design Review Board and is a former director of the Guilford Conservation Land Trust. She has also or is still serving as a member of the New York Botanical Garden Horticulture Committee, the Smith College Botanic Garden Friends Advisory Committee, as director of the Urban Resources Institute in New Haven, and as director of the Connecticut Architecture Foundation.
Ms. Towers is a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects. |
